Now, Back to the Future: A Non-Reflection
Today, I have no sense of reflection. I just want to look forward.
This is a new feeling. The past few years have been so difficult and I’ve struggled to make sense of all the lessons.
I used all my Jedi mind tricks to stay optimistic and remain courageous. I tapped into my yoga practice to breathe. I connected with my Yiddishkeit to live in the moment and not freak out about the future.
Two days into the new year and I don’t have an urge to set resolutions.
I’m simply excited for the new year and all the potential for good that it holds.
I’m relocating my LA store to the Beverly Hills location. I’m creating more space in my schedule for my dad, my health, and for discovering new hobbies.
"There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of the people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age."
~~ Sophia Loren
While I’m not looking to defeat age, I would like to slow down aging. It’s not easy.
I can either be on time or pretty. I can’t do both.
The old me, which is actually the younger me, could get to a 6am hot yoga class no problem. Now, I face restless sleep, hot flashes, and body aches ranging from shoulder arthritis to hip bursitis.
By the time I’m able to wake up and actually get up, I’m racing the clock to get to work by ten.
You’ll know that I’m reaching my health goal if you see me at 10am with good hair.
It’s funny how our priorities shift as we age.
What do you want this new year to hold for you?
Be specific. The universe hears you.
Years ago, I wrote that I wanted a man who is kind and gentle.
Years later, I reread my letter and discovered that I misspelled 'gentle' and wrote 'gentile'.
My boyfriend isn’t Jewish.
So, be sure to spellcheck when you manifest.
If you’re unsure of what you need or want, give yourself the gift of self-love.
Go now and look in the mirror. Tell yourself, “(your name), I love you.”
Your reflection shows you that you have the power to create your own happiness.
