The Greatest Gift Comes From You
As three-year-old me opened my Chanukah gifts, I was fascinated by what was hidden behind the gift wrap paper. I couldn’t have imagined an electric Snoopy toothbrush nor a View Master toy. I didn’t even understand what the gifts were.
However, my mother knew that the greatest gifts she could give me were the ones that I should have. She wanted me to be healthy, to stimulate my imagination, and encourage my desire for learning.
Gift giving is so stressful for most people because they focus on what they think a recipient would want. But does anyone really know what another person wants? Do you know what you want? I can barely figure out what I want to eat for breakfast.
When I curate for the shop, I strive to source items that inspire, educate, and enhance living. I know anything on my shelves could bring joy to someone whether they are fashionistas, foodies, or friends who love to travel.
This year is especially important to recognize the people who matter the most to us. Everyone is experiencing life challenges from health issues to the loss of family or even their homes. Be kind and generous to yourself and to them.
A holiday card or a present is the tool for letting them know that they are loved, appreciated, and celebrated. Those items will be treasured memories of a meaningful relationship. Remember, giving what you think they should have is the perfect present.
