A Little Jealousy Is A Good Thing
I was chatting with a friend about the way social media is used by friends. He’s uncomfortable with all their glowing posts that position their lives in bright light and chooses not to advertise how he and his family live.
I see it differently. When I see posts of beautiful women, overachieving teenagers, and gorgeous locales, I feel fabulous by association. Seriously, how did I get so lucky to have such amazing people in my life?
Thinking about my friends…
The achievements.
The philanthropic work.
The entrepreneurs.
The entertainers.
The healers, spiritual and physical.
The dreamers.
The doers.
The talent.
The offspring.
The contributions.
The wins and the nominations.
The travels.
The access.
The quest.
The legacy.
Last week we read the original Top 10 list, the 10 Commandments. The last one interests me most today. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, his manservant, his maid-servant, his ox, his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
I don't covet what my friends have-I am empowered by their lives. It raises my bar and keeps me striving to improve myself and our world and be worthy to call these people friends.
There is nothing to be jealous of and everything to be inspired by.
